Austin Ralphson

Biography

I completed my BMus(Hons) at the University of Surrey in 1996 and then went on to do a PGCE (Secondary Music) at Liverpool Hope University College. Since then I have taught music in two secondary schools and am currently Head of Music in a very successful school in the North West of England.

I am a trombonist first and foremost, and have had a wealth of experience playing in many different types of ensembles. I also have a lot of solo experience. I play piano and the drum kit as well.
I currently play with the North West Brass Quintet (www.northwestbrassquintet.co.uk) which travels around the North West of England to play for many different types of events. Weddings are the most popular, however.

I have arranged a lot of music for many different types of ensemble including big band, brass quintet, brass ensemble, sax quartet, sax ensemble, string quartet, recorder quartet, wind quintet, trombone quartet, brass band etc., as well as many educational products.

I am interested in a wide variety of music and am always eager to expand my current catalogue of arrangements for any ensemble. If there is a particular piece that someone would like arranging for them, I am always as flexible as possible with their requirements.
